Prescription Policy
Last Updated: June 18, 2026
At SahiMed (operated by Medtown Pharma), we prioritize patient safety, corporate integrity, and strict legal compliance above all else. In accordance with the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, and the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945 of India, we strictly enforce a valid medical prescription requirement for dispensing scheduled medications.
No prescription medicines (including but not limited to Schedule H and Schedule H1 drugs) will be sold, dispensed, or shipped without proper verification by our licensed professionals.
1. Requirements for a Valid Prescription
To be accepted by our pharmacy team, an uploaded prescription must be valid, legible, and contain the following essential elements:
Doctor’s Information: Name, qualifications, valid medical registration number (State Medical Council or MCI/NMC), signature, and clinic/hospital stamp or letterhead.
Patient Information: Patient’s full name and age/gender.
Medication Details: Explicit name of the medicine, dosage, strength, duration, and specific instructions for use.
Date of Issue: The prescription must be recent. Prescriptions for chronic care medications are generally valid for up to 6 months from the date of issue unless specified otherwise by the practitioner.
2. Our Two-Step Verification Protocol
To guarantee absolute safety, every order containing prescription-required medication undergoes a mandatory validation process:
Digital Upload & Screening: The customer must upload a clear, legible photo or PDF scan of the original prescription during the checkout process on the SahiMed platform.
Pharmacist Verification: A registered, licensed pharmacist at Medtown Pharma personally reviews and validates the uploaded document against the ordered items. The pharmacist verifies the authenticity, dosage, and validity of the prescription before authorizing the order for fulfillment.
3. Order Alterations and Rejections
Medtown Pharma reserves the absolute right to reject or alter an order under the following compliance thresholds:
Invalid Prescriptions: If a prescription is found to be expired, forged, altered, structurally unreadable, or missing a doctor's registration number, the prescription-dependent items will be immediately canceled from the order.
Quantity Adjustments: If the quantity ordered on SahiMed exceeds the duration or dosage prescribed by the registered medical practitioner, our pharmacists will down-adjust the order quantity to strictly match the practitioner's written instructions.
Substitutions: SahiMed focuses on generic-first options to provide affordable chronic care solutions. Therapeutic or generic substitutions will only be offered or processed in strict compliance with prevailing pharmacy regulations and with the explicit, verified consent of the customer.
4. Restricted Substances Policy
SahiMed and Medtown Pharma do not dispense highly restricted substances, narcotics, habit-forming medications, or narcotics under Schedule X online.
Orders containing any such heavily controlled substances will be automatically rejected and canceled by our verification team.
5. Order Cancellation & Refund Status
If an order is canceled or modified by our registered pharmacists due to an invalid, missing, or rejected prescription, any advance digital payment made for the canceled items will be automatically refunded to the original payment source.
Refunds are processed promptly according to our standard Cancellation & Refund Policy.
